Washing Dolly's Hair  Setting Dolly's Hair
  • Start by brushing out any tangles.
  • Lay doll over the edge of a sink with her hair hanging down.  Wet the hair taking care not to get any water down the hole in the neck.  Apply a small amount of shampoo, adding more if needed.  Scrub the hair thoroughly but gently being careful not to tangle any hair.  Rinse.  Repeat if hair is very soiled.
  • Next apply a small amount of creme rinse or conditioner and comb through the hair.  Rinse thoroughly.
  • Towel dry hair and comb out.  Leave wet if you are going to curl it.  Otherwise, you can put a sock over her head and let it dry.  The sock will keep her hair nice and flat.  Use a hairnet if you prefer to have the back hair all curly.  Scoop the long hair into the net first, then bring it up and over the dolls head.
  • Use the end of a rattail comb to separate sections of the hair into manageable sizes.
  • Using end papers, fold one in half over the end of the strand to cover uneven tips.  Starting at the tips, roll onto sponge rollers in the direction indicated in the instructions.
  • When a pincurl is required, usually on the short bangs, twirl the hair around your finger and bobby pin it to the head.  The number of pincurls needed depends on the amount of bangs your doll has.
  • Let the set hair dry at least a week before combing it out and styling it.
