Mrs. Buckman's Class

Mrs. Buckman's 3-4 class has big plans this year. They are already planning ahead for an archeological dig! To fund this project, Mrs. Buckman's students are selling the same wonderful Human-i-tees shirts that were such a hit last year. This year, tote bags and hats are also available and the new shirt designs are awesome!

"Communities" is the theme they are studying in Social Studies. Exchanging information with penpals in Morganfield, Kentucky is a great way to learn about your own community and someone else's as well.

Mrs. Buckman is looking for other schools to share a cooperative growing project to coincide with her unit on Plants and Seeds. The kids have been astounded with the variety of conditions that plants can actually survive in. If you are interested in participating in this discovery process, contact Mrs. Buckman at the Grantham Village School. If you'd like to know what kinds of topics Botanists are working on in one of our leading universities, try contacting the University of Georgia. Maybe you could contact them with help with your class project?

In math, students are studying Time and Money (something we all wish we haad more of). We'll post the results here if they come up with any ideas of how to increase either. ;-) To learn more about our currency, check out these pages at the US Treasury.

"Biographies" is the focus in Language Arts this term. Students will be writing biographies of their penpals, members of our community, and someone from NH history. For a good resource dealing with NH history, try here.

Mrs. Buckman's class will soon be focusing on a unit titled "Inventors and Inventions" focusing on the topic of Flight. If you are a pilot, or in the flight field, or if you are an inventor in our community, you would be very welcome to come to share your background and expertise with our students. Hope to hear from you.
