What Does Gear Ratios do?
Gear Ratios is an application program for calculating radio controlled (R/C) car and truck gear ratios. The final drive gear ratio is the number of times the motor needs to turn to power the wheels for one full rotation. Knowing this ratio allows you to compare it with a friend's ratio.

Why do I need the Gear Ratios program?
Final drive ratios are universal between different R/C cars and trucks. Different R/C vehicles use pinion and spur gears, with different numbers of gear teeth, to achieve a final drive ratio. Gear Ratios calculates the final drive ratio from the number of teeth on the pinion and spur gears and the gear box ratio, entered by the user. This puts the car-specific information (pinion and spur gear size, and gear box ratio) in a number that can be translated to work with any R/C car or truck. Once the shareware fee is paid (registered), Gear Ratios is able to convert a final drive ratio into the correct pinion or spur gear to use with your R/C car or truck to achieve that final ratio.

How do I use the Gear Ratios program?
Using Gear Ratios is simple. After launching the program a list of options, numbered 1 through 4, are printed in the window. Enter a number 1 - 4, then press Enter (or Return), to activate the corresponding function. The gear box ratio is needed to calculate ratios with Gear Ratios. If the ratio is not printed on the side of the gear box, you can contact the company that made your car or truck, and they will tell you the ratio. Example: the Team Losi XXT has a transmission ratio of 2.61:1. (The input shaft rotates 2.61 times to the output shaft's 1.)

What do I get when I pay the shareware fee?
After you pay, we will e-mail you the complete registered version of Gear Ratios 1.0. As a bonus, you will also be able to register Gear Ratios 2.0 when it is released for only five more dollars. (The shareware fee will be $10 for anyone who isn't registered with 1.0) Gear Ratios 2.0 will have a more graphical interface, and the ability to calculate ratios for direct-drive cars.

How do I pay?
To register Gear Ratios, send five dollars ($5) to the address below. Include your e-mail address so we will be able to e-mail you the complete version of Gear Ratios. If you don't have e-mail, send a floppy disk with the $5 so we can send Gear Ratios to you by US mail. Thank you.
