DID YOU NOTICE ?
At the bottom of the name, address and phone number there are latitude and longitude numbers. If you had a modern navigation system (GPS) using these numbers it would lead you from anywhere in the world to the front of Philip Read Memorial Library Plainfield, NH , USA. Most high end autos can use these numbers to navigate your car.

"G'day for Reading" is the statewide summer reading program. We have some great programs planned around this Australian theme: A Walkabout, Aborigine Art, Making a Kangaroo, Surfing at the Great Barrier Reef, Australian Stories and Food. See the flyer in this issue of PlainFacts. Sign up as soon as school is out. Volunteer Margaret Cassedy is planning a book/film discussion series on Australian topics for adults to go along with the Summer Reading Program. Watch for more details as we firm up this program.
The Ladies Group will meet on Wednesday, June 4, at 7 p.m. Come and join the fun.
We are excited to announce that the library is teaming up with Twin Cloud Productions to sponsor Children's Theater at the Plainfield Town Hall this summer. A children's theater group will perform each Monday, beginning June 23, at 1 p.m., in the Town Hall. Tickets are $6 each. See the flyer elsewhere in this issue. Individual tickets will be available at the door; multi-pak tickets are available at the library. Shakespeare, "Much Ado About Nothing" - free tickets for sixth graders and older and their parents are available at the library. This NorthEast Shakespeare Ensemble production will be at the Lebanon Opera House, on June 19, 20, 21, 26, 27 and 28 at 8 p.m. and June 22 and 25 at 2 p.m.
May is usually the month for conferences. Our library trustees, Anita, Beth and Dennis all attended the Annual Library Trustee Conference this month in North Conway and I attended the Annual State Library Conference in Concord. There were many interesting programs and ideas discussed. I attended programs on teen book discussions, Open Source software, automation, roundtable discussions on library issues, and others. The things we all learned will help us serve our patrons better.
Jerry Burt will display his hand-turned wooden bowls in the showcase during June. A new Plainfield resident, Karen Gritzke, is displaying her watercolors in the library. These are for sale and Karen will donate a percentage to the library. Recently, Karen was a big hit at the Senior Luncheon when she made on-the-spot portraits of some of those attending.
The next library trustee meeting is on June 9 at 7 p.m. The public is always welcome.
Our next cleanup on Rt. 12A under the Adopt a Highway Program is the weekend of June 21. Come and help. Walking and bending is good exercise. Thank you to the Grald and Drye families for helping in April.
Tax forms for the New Hampshire Homeowners Property Tax Relief Program are available at the library. The deadline for filing is June 30.
Our Annual Book Sale is coming up in September. Donations of books are welcome at any time.
There are lots of new DVDs on order. Just received: "Family Profile-Taking Care of the Old Man." This is a documentary of the family that cared and repaired the Old Man of the Mountain for several generations. New Audio: At the library convention I purchased two audiotapes on Knitting: "Knitting Memories" (personal stories of knitters) and "No Idle Hands" (a history of knitting in America). If you are a knitter, these are very enjoyable to listen to while you are knitting. The author, Annie MacDonald, is available for visits and discussion. If there is interest in having her come to Plainfield, I will get on her schedule. She is booked until the spring of 2009.

Albinism is due to various gene mutations that affect the production of normal pigmentation. True (amelanistic) albinos lack melanin and are white with no markings and with unpigmented pink eyes. Partial (blue-eyed) albinos have some residual pigmentation. There are various degrees of patchy albinism (piebaldism) due to localised mutations in skin cells. Temperature dependent albinos have residual colour on cooler parts of the body i.e. Siamese cats where pigment develops on the head, tail and legs, but not on the warmer parts of the body
